Summit Entertainment is a LIONSGATE company and is also a world wide theatrical motion picture development, financing, production and distribution company within the Lionsgate group of companies.
In April 2007 it emerged as a full motion picture studio when Robert G Friedman, the former Vice chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group, and others raised significant financing through Merrill Lynch to finance a full production slate and distibute its own pictures in the USA.
