This is a long shot used which is also a high angle shot to illustrate the fact that showing the characters looking down and they are secluded down in a mine shaft. This is the type of location, which is showing the conventions of a horror/thriller film. The particular location is a mind shaft, which creates a harsh dangerous setting as opposed to a secluded meadow.

This is a high angle shot showing the characters looking down into a mine shaft. This is a way of showing that they have obviously thrown the dead person into the mine shaft. This helps the audience be able to identify the main characters in the story because of the intense beginning. The circle of light surrounded by darkness signifies death and the light/darkness is a contrast of life and death.

This is a mid shot showing a man about to stab the women with this weapon.This signifies he is going to kill her, but she is only pretending to be dead, but he doesn't know this. This creates a tense feeling as it is a prank that has gone wrong, which is going to result in someones death. It is a convention of horror/thriller film because someones innocent always dies.It is also a significant shot as it is the moment that the situation turns incredibly wrong.

This scene shows that the girl on the screen shot is not as happy as her peers at her graduation and is standing alone. This signifies that she is still conscious about what has happened and it is a subtle way of showing that she is a main character in the film.
