I think our media product represents particular social groups
in an obvious way as it is about a certain social group bullying a girl with
her own individual style. We used camera angles especially to show this by
tilting the camera at the victim. We use obvious stereotypes in our film to by
the groups of people we use ‘3 popular girls harshly bullying a girl that looks slightly different and dresses
in a different way’ in our story line when the girl commits her suicide a boy
goes after and kills the girls that horrifically bully her, our film show that
males generally have more power over women, as the boy brutally murders the
three girls.
We did a questionnaire about who would watch the film and got
a range of different aged people to answer to see who we would target. We
wanted the film to catch the attention of teenage kids as we thing that more or
less everyone could relate to what happens in the film. The results showed that
older people didn’t really get the story line and would not particularly watch
it but younger people say it relates to similar experiences they have seen. So
as a result of the questionnaire we focussed on making the film better for
young people.
With the research that we did we could better our film so it automatically
appealed to the target audience. I think that by giving them the short script
it made them wanting to know what happens next which is what attracts them to
the film. I feel that our film was produced to the standard we wanted it to be
and we are all happy with the outcome, Some people on the questionnaire said
that the film had an eerie and dark feel towards the end of it after reading
the mini script. So when filming we had to work extra hard to make it how they
expect it.
We made the decision of which shots we would use in which
parts, we decided when the camera was on girl D (the girl getting bullied) the
camera would slightly tilt down to show the insecurities that she has. Also we
had to think about which shots would be best for scenes outside such as when
girl A is running through the woods away from the boy, we thought of using the
camera rolling on a bike alongside the girl tracking her but it didn’t work as
well as we thought.
I think that i have bettered my camera skills by doing the 2
minute film as i have defiantly work more on editing, I feel more confident
when editing and added additional sound to our film.
